The Early Bird Changes

Posted by Cantona Kickems on August 2007, 27

What a drubbing. It looks like the bloggers got swept by the rest of the pack. With Small Potato mired in the relegation zone, my team didn’t do much better, barely surpassing the cumulative 200-point mark. The BLUNDER of the week was Robin Van Persie which made it a 13-point swing for my team with that penalty miss.

The new guys Looprevil and Highgate FC deserve their places at the top with some astute buys, but I’m hoping that my Number Seven pointer will turn the tide in my favour.

At times like this, you’ve got to immediately look forward to the next round of games. Focus your attention on these two games in particular:

Liverpool vs Derby [Saturday 1st of September 2007 at 10.00pm Malaysian time]

Manchester United vs Sunderland [Saturday's late game at 12.15am Malaysian time]

Here’s my Early Bird summary:

Strikers:
Keep/Buy Torres (8.47) – Salvaged my Saturday with a solid 10.50 display, albeit without a goal
Don’t punish RvP by sending him to the bench just yet. He’s got a game against Derby after Portsmouth.
Tevez (10.76) who can do some major damage against Slumping Sunderland
Dump Obafemi Martins (12.15) – I was about to recommend him for another week but he’s been held down by the gritty clumsy English game. Worst game I’ve seen in a long time.
Anelka (14.91) – This guy is a the best player in YFF so far this season.
Evertonian Yakubu (10.85)

Middies:
Not much to look at in this department thus far. Cron is gonna serve the 3rd game of his suspension, so look him up for the Everton game
Gerrard – may be rested depending on the outcome of Tuesday’s matchup against Toulouse.
Arteta (17.70) – only if you have the moolah
Downing (13.82) – the sole highlight of Southgate’s team of scrappadoos

Defenders:
Premium ones are Evra and Riise
Granqvist – a very workmanlike performance: Freekicks won – 5, BS – 2, PI -1, TW – 2
Gareth Bale – impressive EPL debut

Goalkeeper:
Good stoppers are in short supply thus far this season. I’m staying with Scott Carson as he’ll be my high risk/reward buy against Chelski.

Last word from the early bird:

Want more? GoFloyd!
