In our Sept 15, 2007 post on the relevancy of the “Home Underdog”, I listed out Portsmouth and Derby as the small teams most likely to do well in a small team/big team face-off when they play in their respective home turf. (they were facing Liverpool and Newcastle, respectively)
Here is what the MPOFE predicted for the Portsmouth – Liverpool game:
Cantona Kickems: 2-2
raZor^r3dz: 0-1
Small Potato: 0-1
Actual Score: Portsmouth 0 – Liverpool 0
And the Derby – Newcastle game?
Cantona Kickems: 1-2
raZor^r3dz: 1-0
Small Potato: 0-3
Actual Score: Derby 1 – Newcastle 0
Bold prediction? 4 out of 5 EPL games involving the home underdog will result in a favorable score for the Rocky Balboas of the EPL. The season is long, so we’ll see …

We sometimes blog about our game predictions theories for upcoming EPL games every now and then – but this week we like to introduce a new weekly segment tagged as “Home Underdogs“.
OK, I can picture that “WTF?” look on your face right now … but hear my wisdom, o’ blessed people! See, when you make a habit of always:
(a) predicting a small team playing at home against a big team to win (or draw)
I guarantee you will achieve a far better prediction accuracy rate than when you make a habit of always:
(b) predicting on the big team to win over the the small team playing at home
So, I hereby introduce this week’s small potato teams playing at home against bigger, stronger, more formidable opponents:
-
Portsmouth
-
Derby County
Check out our MPOFE Game Predictions here to check out the so-called “big teams” they will be playing.
