Cantona Kickem’s Predictions VS Small Potato’s Predictions

eplpicks_cantona_20071124.jpg eplpicks_smallpot_20071124.jpg

As you can see, we generally share the same predictions except one – the Newcastle vs Liverpool game – as Gerrard and Crouchie, still reeling from England’s Euro 2008 disaster, won’t be much of a factor. Added to that, I am still not convinced of Rafa Benitez long-term future in Liverpool.

Expect Allardyce yet again trying hard to prove his England Manager credentials to the FA, although I think he’s too old school for consideration. A cultured, yet tough-as-nails foreigner like Mourinho is a better bet for an England team accused by the media of having overpaid millionaires.

Not gonna be easy for the Hammers. Carlton Cole is my bargain pick of the week (please score…)

Liverpool vs Fulham [Live on Starsports CH 813: 1.15am Malaysian time]
Liverpool. Easier than most would think.

Sunday, 11th November 2007

Birmingham vs Aston Villa [Live on ESPN CH 812: 9.00pm Malaysian time]
Birmingham blunted with injuries. Villa win

Chelsea vs Everton [Live on Starsports CH 813: 10.00pm Malaysian time]
Chelsea – title contenders again?

Manchester United vs Blackburn [Live on ESPN CH 812: 11.00pm Malaysian time]
Red Devils with the W

Portsmouth vs Manchester City [Live on Starsports CH 813: 12.00am Malaysian time]
Battle for Europe begins. Pompey looking the better of the two…

Early Monday morning, 12th November 2007

I’ve got Hleb and Adebayor for the weekend fixtures. No prizes for knowing who I think is gonna win.

The Final Changes

Posted by Cantona Kickems on November 2007, 3

First order on the Final Changes:

Kenwyne Jones flyin

I’ve just completed my 12.08 million transfer of Kenwyne Jones with a little less than 5 hours till the selection deadline [Filled roster slots will lock down and be uneditable from 3 Nov 8:00PM Malaysian time].

Sure, he has been a lot of hype. The matchup isn’t that great either (away at Maine Road and Man City advocates are licking their chops). NEVERTHELESS, Kenwyne has proven himself the better of the Tall Strong African Target men at the Emirates stadium, so I’m taking a leap of faith by dropping Martin Petrov (9.86) and…

3-5-2 or 3-4-3

Welcome to our Late Edition to the EPL Fantasy Football Guide!
Better late than never? I’m Cantona Kickems, here to provide you some vital news to helpcha out with your YFF picks. Most of my tips are based on guestimating which team will win their matchup, and the number of goals scored in the process. Usually I’m biased towards the performing teams, ‘cos let’s face it, Koumas isn’t gonna earn much points if he’s up against a rampaging Red Devils frontline. He was largely absent in my 101.50 point performance on Week 8.

The big impact news are as follows: Read the rest of this entry »

Leap of Faith

Posted by Cantona Kickems on October 2007, 2

What a cocky fella this guy is. But we love his dribbles:

Roma begged for mercy – Ronaldo

On the YFF front, a leap of faith sends me to the pinnacle of the Pentagram league!!!! Selecting Cristiano Ronaldo for my starting lineup paid dividends. With the exception of the absent Kasper, the entire team played their role in points contribution, and I now find myself a meager 3.50 ahead of Highgate FC.

And apologies for my flawed prediction of a Chelsea comeback. No comeback, padres. A forgettable performance by the Blues against Fulham leave them struggling for a place in Europe. You might want to stay away from their players for their upcoming away game against Bolton.

Till I shape up my lousy defence, I’m up for a tough challenge this season. And it looks like Yahoo bloggers Neal and Jeremy just aren’t letting up! (664.5 and 656 totals respectively)

Home Underdog for EPL Week 6

Posted by Small Potato FC on September 2007, 22

Our last post on the home underdog demonstrated that the home underdog ain’t a little puppy you can mess around with.

Here’s the unanimous (and only!) home underdog vs big team of the week:

Bolton Wanderers – Tottenham Hotspurs

And our predictions?

Cantona Kickems: 2-3
raZor^r3dz: 2-2

Small Potato:
1-2

Logically, most of us have to go Tottenham’s way … but tell you what, I will buy Reebok merch if Bolton wins.

GO BOLTON! STAND UP TO THE BULLIES.

Day Job and the EPL Fantasy Football Guide to Week 6

Posted by Cantona Kickems on September 2007, 22

Go where? GoFloyd! Here

This blog is dedicated to the man who re-energized the Barclays English Premier League, the man who re-ignited the passions of football for EPL fans across the world – Jose Mourinho. May you spend your 25 million wisely! (And don’t breathe too closely behind Martin Jol’s back)

Please don’t ask me why Avram Grant’s face is splashed across this entry – don’t take anything away from my Mourinho dedication; I just wanted to show you how scary this guy looks.

with Mourinho leaving, I am obliged to say that the Chelski era has ended sooner than expected. I anticipate that this is the beginning of the end for the Londoners – Roman Abramovich is continuously learning the hard way that money can’t buy him love:

  1. Departed with 50% of his wealth as part of his divorce settlement
  2. Losing Moanrinho and another 25 million pounds (little love there)
  3. Expect Drogba, Lampard, Carvalho, Ferreira and Malouda to lead the way out of Stamford Bridge.
